GIF or MP4 — which one for Canva?
Both play natively. GIF loops forever automatically, keeps a transparent background if you export one, and is the easy default for logos placed over designs. MP4 is smaller for longer or smoother motion and fits video timelines, but renders on its own rectangle — H.264 has no alpha channel, so pick the GIF when the logo must float over your artwork.
Where it plays
An uploaded animated logo plays in designs, presentations (including present mode), videos, and anything Canva exports as MP4 or GIF itself. Static exports — like a downloaded PDF or PNG — keep the first frame, so your layout still shows the fully-lit mark.
What about SVG in Canva?
Canva accepts SVG uploads but does not play SVG animation, so an animated SVG stays still there. Use the export panel’s Figma / Canva tab to copy a clean static SVG when you want a crisp scalable logo element, and let the GIF or MP4 carry the motion.
Free vs Pro
The moving formats Canva plays — GIF and MP4 — are Pro exports, watermark-free with a commercial-use license. The SVG-based exports stay free with a small watermark, though in Canva they render as a static logo.
