Where an animated logo goes on a Twitch stream

Which format should I use?
For an OBS image source, a looping GIF is the simplest — it plays automatically and needs no plugins. If you use a browser source instead, the animated SVG stays crisp at any overlay size and weighs far less than a GIF. Many streamers also add an animated GIF to a Twitch panel under the stream, where GIFs play inline.
Keep it small and readable
